Obituary for Gianni Montanaro

Gianni Montanaro

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Gianni Montanaro while surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the age of 84. Beloved husband to Milvia Montanaro for 58 years of marriage. Loving father to Tiziana (the late Rino), Mirella, Fabio (Lynda) and predeceased by his daughter Stefania. Cherished grandfather to Christina, Mark, Rina (Johnny), Steven and Ryan and great-grandfather to Nicholas and Mia. Gianni was a hard working and devoted family man. He immigrated to Canada in 1960 to provide a better life for his future wife Milvia. Together, they built a life for their family. Gianni loved to dance –he and Milvia would always be the first on the dance floor at functions. He was a well liked and respected barber in the community and enjoyed conversing with his clients. Known for being a joker; Gianni was always trying to make those around him laugh, even when facing his own illness. He enjoyed time spent playing cards and watching soccer, in particular his beloved Roma Football Club. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place at Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway #7, Woodbridge) on Sunday from 4-9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
