“On and for behalf of the beneficiaries of the ArtBob Scholarship of the YMCA of Liberia, we wish to express our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of Mr. Gerald Gerry Douglas Young and we pray that his soul rest in perfect. We deeply regret the death of Mr. Gerry and we do believe, he lived a worthy life by serving and being a helped to others one way of the others. We know the passion he (Gerry) had for humanity when he willing left his homeland (Canada) to visit us in Liberia for the first time. His visit in Liberia meant a lot to us, he demonstrated the love that Jesus’ talked about” love your neighbors as you love yourself. We believed Mr. Young soul is resting in the bestow of Abraham. Mr. Young was loving and caring father and friend and he fought and great fight and he will forever be remembered in our lives as we grow older.” And thanks to Mr. Art Kelly, for given us the opportunity to have met with such a kind hearted father and friend like Mr. Young. We pray that God console the bereaved family in these times.”

It was always a delight travelling to the Ukraine or Africa with Gerry. We shared many wonderful adventures together and I never heard him complain once about our accommodations; they were never 4 star not even 3. He loved to visit the orphanages and see the smiles on the children's faces when they found candy in his pocket. He worked tirelessly back home sending clothing and shoes so those little ones would be warm in the winter. He was an inspiration. Now he is in heaven enjoy life once again with Mary. You are missed already.
