Obituary for Gezina "Sunny" Nieuwold
Gezina (Sunnie) Nieuwold, 96, passed away on Good Friday, April 19, 2019, in Brampton Ontario.
Visitation at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main St. S. Brampton, Thursday April 25th, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
Funeral Service at Ward Funeral Home on Friday April 26, at 1:00 pm.
Sunnie was born in 1923 in Holland. She survived the depression and WW2. In 1949, she married Egge (Eddy) and in 1953 she and Eddy and their son Albert immigrated to Flowertown – aka Brampton. Sunnie was a long time member of the faith community at First Baptist Church. She especially loved her time in the choir and COL. After Eddy died in 2003, Sunnie moved to Holland Christian Homes. Aside from a serious illness in her youth, Sunnie was fortunate to be physically healthy for most of her life. In 2013, she broke her hip, and then began to suffer from dementia. In 2015, Sunnie moved into a room at Grace Manor, and remained there until her passing. Sunnie was preceded in death by her brothers - Jan, Mans, Menzo and Piet. Sunnie is survived by her sister Mattie, and her brother Henk, and her sons, Albert (Lois), Peter (Elaine), Frank (Wynn), and David (Morag), along with 7 grandchildren (Elyse, Dante, Joshua (Manami), Collin, Matthew, Samantha, & Ben) and 1 great grandchild – Sana. Special thanks to the staff at Grace Manor (HCH) for their dedication and concern.
