Obituary

JAY LUMSDEN

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jay Lumsden on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the age of 56. He is now reunited with his adoptive parents Gerry and Gwen Lumsden and birth parents Dak and Betty Kennedy. Beloved brother to Meg (Dave), Dan (Maureen), Finlay, Donald (Sylvia) and Frances (Dereck) and pre-deceased by his sister Cathy. Cherished uncle to Chantelle, Derek, Maddy, Sophie and Sarah. Jay was a kind hearted and loving soul. He enjoyed time spent listening to hard rock and heavy metal music; especially his favorite bands Black Sabbath and Motorhead. He loved sitting behind a drum kit bashing away to his favourite bands as well as watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Most of all though, his greatest joy was spending time with his nieces and nephews, he was so proud to be called "uncle". Jay fought many personal battles in his life but always strived to overcome his demons. Even through his own struggles he put others first and helped guide many friends toward the path of recovery. His strong sense of humor and infectious laugh will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and a wealth of friends. Visitation will take place at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. A celebration of Jay's life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Glendale House Withdrawal Management or Transition House would be appreciated.

God, grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change

Courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

Very sorry to hear about Jay's passing. Jay was a man of many talents and did a lot of great plumbing work for Our Homes and Carrot Common. I was sorry to lose contact with him, but I want you all to know that I appreciated his warm heart and friendship over many years. Regret that I am in Montana today and not able to attend his funeral. Blessings David Walsh

So many joyous memories of you, our Jaybaleen.  We had always hoped that you'd come for a visit to us in Scotland. Now you are with us forever via the High Road.. From the Loch Lomond Ballad..... ..you'll take the high road and I'll take the low road.... And the story is that The Low road is the normal road on earth and the High road is the road in the sky that your Celtic soul will take to return to your homeland in the highlands. Rest easy, we love you now and forever, one day at a time Thomas and Sandra Macdonald SCOTLAND
