Obituary for June Spicer

June M. Spicer, age 98, passed away peacefully in Brampton Ontario on August 1st, 2019 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. June was born in Port Hope, Ontario in 1921 where she lived most of her life in the Victorian uptown fire hall which had been converted to a home and business by her parents, Bert and Emily Robinson. In 1945 the very beautiful bride married soldier Allan B. Spicer of Port Hope and they raised two daughters, Nancy Angelo of Calgary, Alberta, and Susan Spicer of Brampton, Ontario. After the death of her husband in 1997, June moved to Brampton to be closer to her daughter, Susan, and two of her grandchildren, Victoria Cole and Angela Cole of Toronto, Ontario, and their six children. She often visited Nancy and her children in Calgary, Ryan Angelo and Heather Duncan, and Heather’s three sons.

June devoted her life to her family and was a creative and loving grandma and great grandma. She enjoyed caring for her family, and her sister Enid often remarked that June would do well as a caterer. She was playful and had endless patience with little ones as they played cards and learned how to cook, knit and sew. Her creative talents were evident in the arts and crafts she loved to do with her children and grandchildren. June loved to read to kids and could make up exciting stories at bedtime. She encouraged her children in their schooling and their many extracurricular activities. June was also very active in her community, and had many close friends.

June spent the last few months of her life at Tall Pines Long Term Care in Brampton where she continued to charm people and the staff described her as being polite and a “real lady”.

A private family service and reception will be held in Port Hope on August 17, 2019.
