Passed away peacefully on Sunday August 11, 2019 after a courageous battle with lung cancer at the age of 79. Devoted husband of Anna of 58 wonderful years. Proud father of Rossano (Anna). Cherished Nonno of Marcus and Lucas. Loving brother of Ines (Salvatore predeceased) and loving uncle of Mary (Richard) and Antonette (Umberto). Giovanni will be sadly missed by his many family and friends. Fondly remembered for his strength and determination in caring for his family. His love of music, gardening and his four legged friends showed his true gentle nature. He proudly spoke of his contribution to building cities as a skilled excavator operator and union member of local 793 of the Operating Engineers. He often shared humorous stories about the antics and comradery of his work crew.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Hwy 7 (west of Pine Valley Dr.), Woodbridge, on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 15, 2019 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church 100 Bainbridge Ave., Woodbridge at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
