Obituary for Femmy Luimes (van Dorsten)

Femmigje (Femmy) Luimes (nee Van Dorsten), age 94, passed away peacefully on October 2nd, 2019 with family by her side. Loving wife of Hank Luimes who preceded her in death in 2015. Lovingly remembered by her children, Henry (Lori), Winn (Don, d. 2017), Marg (Steve), John (Julie) and Ann (Steve). Cherished Grandmother of Courtney (Andrew), Britney (Sean), Lindsey (Chris), Jonathan (Jen), Daniel (Catherine), Rebekah (Bruce), Kim (Cedrick), Marc, Jackie (Andy), Katie (Chris), Nicole, Stephanie, Cassie, Colleen, Nathan, Alexandra and Bradley and many great grandchildren.

Femmy will always be fondly remembered as having a kind and loving heart and living her life selflessly caring for others. After raising her own children, she went to school in her fifties to become a Health Care Aide to care for residents at Tullamore Nursing Home. More recently, she cared for her husband for years as he suffered from dementia. Femmy was a wonderful mother and grandmother who gave so much and asked for very little in return. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed the warmth of the sun. We are so thankful that she is now with the Lord. In her life, we feel that Femmy heeded the words of Jesus from Matthew 22:37-39 “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’”

Family and close friends plan to gather for a memorial service on October 23rd, 2019 at 11:30 a.m., at Horizon Hall, Holland Christian Homes, Brampton, Ontario. There will be a reception with refreshments following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
