Obituary for Neal Pupulin

Passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Humber Regional Hospital. Beloved husband of Lucy. Loving father to Susan (John Cesario) and Lisa (Jeff Clark). Cherished and proud nonno to Vanessa, Madeline, Robin, Jacklyn and Allison. Will be also be fondly remembered by his sister Mirella Lippi (late Pio) and their family.

Neal was a gifted and professional accordionist with a distinguished musical career that spanned well over 60 years. He touched the hearts of thousands of people with his joyful sounds. Neal’s passion for music was ignited early in his childhood, in his native Fiume Veneto, Italy. This joy remained steadfast in him, for he played until literally days before his hospitalization.

What Neal lacked in formal education, he more than compensated for with determination and an unprecedented work ethic. Always a true professional, he taught at the Ontario Conservatory of Music, he played gigs at The “El Mocambo” in the 60’s, he was a band leader, soloist, music arranger, pianist, concert coordinator, private instructor to many adult students, mentor and more! He was a fixture for 20 years, strolling during brunch at “The Manor” in King City. Neal could be counted on to provide the most diverse range of music that catered to literally anyone’s taste.

Always a man of unparalleled integrity, his word was his bond. He never let anyone down, especially when it came to his work. Neal was always ready to share a joke, ( even if he sometimes forgot the punch lines), which was part of his charm. His newfound proficiency on the computer allowed him to email people a daily smile.

A family man, Neal was married to his devoted wife, Lucy for almost 60 years and they shared many cherished memories of loved ones, friends and travel. She was always by his side, especially through the challenging last months of his illness. His daughters Susan and Lisa were able to spend precious time with him as he bravely fought on. He was an enthusiastic participant in the lives of his daughters, their spouses, John and Jeff and his grandchildren. Neal could always be counted on to support all of them in their many and varied endeavours. He proudly shared their many accomplishments worldwide!

The family wishes to thank the staff at Humber River Hospital, his longtime physician, Dr. Mark Accardo and his staff for their care. Heartfelt thanks to all of the family and friends that supported all of us during this very difficult time. It is very, very much appreciated. Dad, may you always find sweet music in your life hereafter.
