Obituary for Ida Marchetti

Ida Marchetti (nee Poli)

We are very sad to announce on November 15th, 2019, Ida was reunited with her beloved husband Giovanni “Bepe” and loving son Dennis.

On April 10th, 1926, Ida Marchetti (nee Poli) was born in San Lorenzo, Tuscany, Italy. She was the youngest in the family and predeceased by her siblings.
After Ida and “Bepe” immigrated to Canada, Dennis (only child) was born on Dec. 11, 1955. He was the light of their life. Ida and “Bepe” were very involved in the Italian club and loved to go dancing. She was a professional seamstress for over 30 years and retired at the age of 65. One of her passions included cooking for her family. All her dishes were delicious - but her meatballs and rappini were two of the family’s favourites. She loved flowers and thoroughly enjoyed gardening. She took pleasure in playing cards and was known as quite the “card shark” from the ol’ country. She took delight in taking day trips to Woodbine and Niagara casino - as well as play the lottery scratch tickets on a weekly basis - and more often than not, she won! Her greatest joy was being “nonna” to Daniela and Michael who brought her such happiness.
Ida remained a very vibrant & spunky lady through to the age of 93! She will be sadly missed by all including her loving daughter-in-law Olga Marchetti and cherished grandchildren Daniela and Michael.

Family and friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, Toronto on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday November 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at All Saints’ Roman Catholic Church, 1415 Royal York Road, Etobicoke.

Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
