Obituary for Giuseppe Linarello
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe (Joe) Linarello on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the age of 94.
Joe was born on June 6, 1925, in Gioiosa Ionica, Italy. He came to Canada by boat in 1966 with his wife and two daughters to join his brother-in law for new opportunities. He spent most of his life working in construction and building apartment structures in Toronto.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, Nonno and bisnonno, and joins his pre-deceased wife Immacolata Linarello and his five siblings. He is survived by his two loving children Anna Mantione (Carmelo Mantione) and Rose Blanchet (Frank Blanchet); a proud Nonno of four grandchildren, Cindy Ruocco (Michael Ruocco), Sandro Mantione, Franky Mantione (Ashley Ferguson) and Mark Mantione ( Nicole Vazquez). Adored by his four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathan, Andrew and Adrian.
Joe loved his garden and his wood-burning fireplace in the winter. He continued his Italian traditions by making wine, tomato sauce and soppressata. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbours, friends, and family. A biccherino of liquor would immediately appear whenever someone came over.
He will be missed by all and always in our heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are welcomed.
