Will miss the visits we had with Val & Don a few years ago in Largo, Fla. It was great re-connecting with Your parents on those occasions. One big highlight was seeing the Blue Jays play in Dunedin. There were a bunch of yakking women sitting behind us, Val wasn’t long in politely telling them to shush! We all loved it & even the women were good sports about it! Our deepest condolences to all the family on your loss.

I have very special memories of Don and Val. While Don was my doting first cousin, Valerie always made me feel very special too. I remember how very excited I was to be chosen for the role of 'flower girl' for their wedding day. I was young (5) and very shy and whiIe I couldn't wait for the big day to arrive, I do remember starting to feeling anxious and overwhelmed during the rehearsal. Valerie was incredibly kind, attentive and patient to me and I remember becoming immediately calmed and reassured by her acts of kindness as I went through the practice paces, alongside of the ring-bearer, my 4 year old cousin, Jim Jr. Her kindness to us continued and was equally impressive on their wedding day, as Val herself made sure that we were taken care of before, during and following the ceremony.
I have a deep, crystal clear memory of seeing Val in her wedding dress, for the first time, on the big day. I clearly remember thinking that she looked like a real-life princess with her gorgeous gown and sweeping veil. I was awed by how truly beautiful she was- she literally took my breath away that day.
Valerie had a special white flower-girl dress made for me for the occasion- I absolutely loved that dress and I still have it wrapped in tissue paper all these years later. Val and Don gave me a gold heart-shaped locket to commemorate their special day. I still wear it, with a longer chain, to this day.
I have always continued to think of Valerie as a very beautiful person- inside and out. Her smile, laugh and genuine kindness will remain with me always. She will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace.
